5 Foods I Really (Really) Like

June 13, 2007 · 3 Comments

1) Breaded Pork Chops – served with applesauce & a baked potato.

2) Coconut Cream Pie – with toasted coconut on top.

3) BBQ Pork Ribs – Oooh, baby.

4) Coffee – a decent cup of coffee. Not that stuff that sits around for hours in convenience stores. Dunkin Donuts Original Blend is great. Their mail order French Vanilla is even better.

5) Rocky Road Ice Cream

Help! I need meal ideas!

January 28, 2007 · 8 Comments

My family has grown tired of the same old meal routine. Please! Does anyone have any suggestions?! If anyone has any new recipes for something exciting, please post them in comments…or e-mail me! We have 5 people in our family, so bonus points for simple ingredients and widespread appeal.

I can’t offer any cash prizes, but I could photoshop a special celebrity message advertising your webpage/blog and post the picture link to your site. It can be with the celebrity of your choice.

Please post generously! Thank you!

30 Days of Pork

December 24, 2006 · 1 Comment

No, this isn’t a Tom Cruise movie…nor does it have to anything to do with Congressional legislation. This is a story about a San Franciscan based vegan falling off the no-meat-diet wagon. A former Eastern Pennsylvanian who lived among the cultured savages of California denies her meat-eating past to live a dietary life of vegetable solitude.

I have thought about becoming a vegetarian, perhaps to reduce the collectively environmental and health effects of eating meat.  I have read the documentation and it makes sense. However, I have found that while preparing food; I seem to have this recurring reaction when I smell meat cooking: my mouth waters. It’s a very primal desire to bite animal flesh. Something tells me that the satisfaction of ripping vegetable carcass with teeth could never possibly sate this occasional carnivorous desire.

I have tried. Really. I have eaten veggie burgers, tried soy, and even have done the grill Portobello mushroom burger thing. Friends with vegan-istic tendencies exclaim that grilled mushroom tastes just like meat, yet I find this outrageous and confusing. If I want to taste something that tastes just like meat; I will be going for the Jimmy Buffett route with an onion slice.

Anyway, here are the links to the article AND a Flickr link with pictures of pork products.

I can’t seem to lose weight

December 4, 2006 · 1 Comment

As I sitting in a fast food restaurant yesterday, I was thinking to myself on how hard it can be to lose those extra pounds. It’s so easy to pile on the calories at this time of the year, plus it is so stressful.

Luckily, I was able to calm down after they brought my meal to the table. I was a little full after eating this, but next time I think I will tell them not to super size it.

I found this picture on the Internet, and thought it was touching. Reaching out to feed the more fortunate is a rare sight, indeed. Here, this young man is offering Nicole Richie some food.

I want to put an end to these rumors for once and for all about me not being an animal lover.

I absolutely love them especially when served with lots of melted butter and lemon…..maybe even some tartar sauce.
