They say it’s your birthday…nah-na nah-na nah

May 3, 2007 · 3 Comments

I will be celebrating a significant milestone birthday this month. I have been putting together a little list of things I’d like…..so, in no particular order, I think I’d like:

- 2 dozen Buffalo Wings

- A new computer (Pentium IV, at least 3 GHz, 1 GB plus RAM, DVD Burner, 10/100/1000 NIC)

- a book on CSS

- Depeche Mode to perform live in my backyard

- the ability to be telekinetic

- My height in $1,000 bills (76 inches)

- a limo ride

- the Martin guitar I played after the factory tour that was the Ritchie Sambora model ($7,500)

- a sixer of ice cold Corona (with lime)

- to be guest VJ on MTV for a day so I could play all the old videos I remember

- A multi-million dollar mansion with a library, movie theatre, computer lab, music studio, a massive kitchen, several bedrooms including a master bedroom with a massive bathroom.

- A 1986 dark blue Chevy Caprice

- maybe an Alberto Gonzales pinata

If any of my readers would like to get me anything for my birthday,  let me know…..really. =)

The current weather conditions may prevent me from blogging this weekend

April 21, 2007 · 1 Comment

It is supposed to be 70 degrees (Farenheit) and sunny all weekend. Seeing as Pennsylvania weather has been 1/2 that up until last week, I want to ditch the cabin fever.  I will be outside and subsequently not near a computer for bit.

Catch ya on the flip side!

The Loft That Daddy Built (with Mommy’s help, of course)

January 12, 2007 · 1 Comment

Here, my daughter poses on her new “big girl bed.” Not only did she upgrade from a toddler bed, she now has DISNEY PRINCESS SHEETS. This combination of new bed and new sheets puts my daughter’s excitement level approximately that of a gameshow contestant.

Please note that the loft resides in what used to be a narrow closet. Daddy had to remove a section of wall to expand her room to hold this wooden monstrosity. Daddy would also like to point out that Mommy had a big role in designing and planning the necessary equipment for this project. Thank you, Mommy.

I have a second blog now dedicated to writing

January 3, 2007 · 2 Comments

When my writing captures my thoughts, my camera is a pencil.

I have started another blog. Unlike this blog, there is a theme to my other blog. Although I suppose pop culture is the theme of this blog.

I hope to put story ideas on electronic paper to get them out of my head. I may make them into short stories or books later on, but for now, they shall fill a blog.

It doesn’t look like I will hit my deadline

December 31, 2006 · 5 Comments

My goal for 2006 was to have a complete rough draft of the book I am writing. I am 30 pages (about 15,000 words) into it. My story has been edited by several people, including a Creative Writing professor from Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio.

The outline of how it will end has not only been written, but has section of dialogue already fleshed out. I hope that I will have this totally finished by the end of January. Although I have had a few days off, I have been watching our three children while my wife had to work the last week of the year.  I have squeezed in some late night writing (my best time of the day to write, I have found) but still won’t make my deadline.

Overall, I think it has a strong, original storyline. I think it screams out for being a full length movie. My close circle of friends who have heard the plot have already requested a signed copy of this exciting fantasy novel.

I just want to get this sucker done and ready for submitting to publishers next year.

Predictions by stjarNa-stradamus for 2007

December 29, 2006 · 3 Comments

1) Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie, and Britney Spears will unite to form an intellectual think tank. The results of which will bring us the 3 Herbie Movie sequels, a reality television show, a trip to rehab, and several hundred hours of community service.

2) George W. Bush, a lifetime pioneer of cluelessness, will make a new breakthrough in the field of incompetence, possibly even winning the Nobel Stupid prize for his work in government.

3) I do not participate in Dead Pools because I think it’s bad karma. I will predict that all the people who die in 2007 will be a result of them no longer being alive.

4) The new diet craze of 2007 will not involve pills, herbs, shakes, talismans, or other dietary supplements. It will involve electric knives. Claims of instantly losing as much as 30 pounds in 20 minutes will suddenly become believable. Testimonials, however, will become harder to collect as possible side effects will include unconsciousness and death.

5) Another global corporation will financially tank due to internal corruption. Another wave of dishonest, thieving, manipulative executives will relinquish 10 of their summer homes yet see no jail time. Leaving thousands of employees stupid enough to put all their retirement money in company stock, putting themselves into financial ruin. In response to that problem, the Federal Government will pass watered-down, pork barrel legislation that targets steroid use in professional baseball, then subsequently take a well-deserved month vacation.

6) Blather-Rinse-Repeat will reach dangerous levels of sarcasm, causing even more pointless legislation to come out of Washington, D.C.  55 gallon barrels of sarcasm will be discovered under his home, but later investigations will determine it to be an excellent source of humor. Lab testing will show its presense in the water supply causes laughter, along with healthier, stronger teeth – more resistant to cavities.

7) Hollywood will dredge up another sitcom from the 1960s or 1970s and make it into a movie, since it has already tacitly admitted to having run completely out of ideas with the Police Academy movies as proof of that admittance.

…more to come

5 things you don’t know about me.. (I’ve been tagged)

December 19, 2006 · 1 Comment

http://casualslack.blogspot.com/2006/12/tagged_13.html

1) I still have incredibly weird dreams. I have met Wilson Phillips,  Pete Townshend, Carlos Santana, family members who have passed away, and The Devil to name a few. I also dream about traveling in other dimensions. No, I do not self-medicate with anything. They just happen.

2) I really want to be a published author. I have about 3/4 of my first book written, and lots of notes and research for my second book. I have been writing for about a year and hope to get my first book published by the end of 2007.

3) Although I consider myself to be a musician and artist by nature, I have found that I like building things around the house. I am putting together a loft (a raised twin bed, essentially) and it is going well. I had to tear out part of a closet, drywall it, frame it out, spackle and paint it before I got to this part. I found that I really like doing it.

4) I am incredibly proud that my eldest son seems to be able to play music by ear. He can walk over to a piano and play music he hears in his head. Although I can read music, that is what I do to learn new stuff.

5) I find it hard to not get depressed sometimes when I think about the shape the world is in. I really wonder what kind of world my kid’s are going to inherit. Not just from me, but the whole thing…..economy, wars, government, the whole shebang. I supposed having and raising kids tells me that I must have, at least, some hope.

I tag all that wish to be tagged….

Hey you! Yes You! Reading this post! Consider yourself tagged!
