Help! I need meal ideas!

My family has grown tired of the same old meal routine. Please! Does anyone have any suggestions?! If anyone has any new recipes for something exciting, please post them in comments…or e-mail me! We have 5 people in our family, so bonus points for simple ingredients and widespread appeal.

I can’t offer any cash prizes, but I could photoshop a special celebrity message advertising your webpage/blog and post the picture link to your site. It can be with the celebrity of your choice.

Please post generously! Thank you!

  1. I posted a receipe for the best banana bread………..

  2. Tell me what you are looking for and tell me what you have been eating….I am so good at this!

  3. I am looking for main meal ideas…chicken, hamburger, ham, beef, pork, etc….

    it’s the usual fare….spaghetti, mac-n-cheese, chicken quesidillas(sp?), roast port, shake-n-bake pork…all with sides of noodles or rice…..it’s wearin’ thin…

please send recipes! (or a chef)

    thanks!

  4. Give me some time. I”m going to work out and I will think about it. I love helping people!

Oh no, you need more ethnic foods in your diet to spice things up. No wonder ya’ll are bored. That list scares me. Comfort foods are ok, but you need to look elsewhere for a nutritious meal.

  5. The easiest thing I know is using a crock pot. You can do almost anything in there… dump all ingredients in the morning, delicious meal at night. Plenty of simple recipes online. My favorite is beef stew over extra wide noodles… or port tenderloin. Cheap cuts of meat come out very tender. I don’t have a specific recipe right now, but plenty on the net.

Basically, put your meat, spices, broth, onions or shallots, carrots, peas… whatever you have. Make sure the meat is covered with liquid and use high or low settings. Oh, crock pots come with recipes inside, too. Corn starch for thick gravy… or even yucca roots can be used for thickening and substitute for potatoes. Yummmmmm!

  6. Another idea is grilled veggies… a little more work than the crock pot, but veggies come out very tasty. Always use fresh, I guess that is obvious… also use healthy oil, like olive or canola.

Saute onions and garlic… add sliced or chunks of any veggie. I love thickly sliced eggplant…. but you can cook almost anything this way… oooh portabellas!

You can minimize mess on the stove by popping them in the oven or on the BBQ.

  7. Just a couple things I turn to when out of ideas:

I’m the Casserole Queen…they are so easy. I use corn tortillas…and then just layer cheese, cooked chicken or hamburger…with either cream of chicken soup or a jar of chile verde salsa or a can of enchilada sauce, whatever. Add in some dollops of sour cream between the layers. Just layer it up like a lasagna. Bake at 350 until cheese (just cheddar or whatever shredded cheese you have) is melted–about 30 minutes. My family loves this. I just add a salad.

Also, we do a lot of chili and cornbread–you can buy chili mix at the store in the spices section.
